Who I help

Therapy for adults who are ready to stop just surviving

Many of the people I work with are capable and caring on the outside, yet feel stuck, on edge, or disconnected on the inside. You might be dealing with:

Trauma & PTSD

Painful memories, flashbacks, nightmares, or feeling unsafe in your own body, whether from one event or experiences that built up over years.

Childhood & relational wounds

Patterns from growing up that still show up in your relationships, your sense of worth, or how you treat yourself.

Anxiety, panic & depression

Panic attacks, constant worry, a heavy low mood, or a body that's always bracing for the next thing.

Shame & self-criticism

A harsh inner voice, perfectionism, or people-pleasing that leaves little room for your own needs.

Relationship pain & betrayal

Hurt, broken trust, or confusion in a relationship, and the hard question of what comes next. Narcissistic abuse recovery →

Life transitions

Seasons of change, loss, or uncertainty when you feel suspended between what was and what's next.

My approach

Gentle, evidence-based, and body-aware

Healing isn't about forcing yourself to "get over it." It's about creating enough safety for your mind and body to finish processing what they've been holding.

EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a well-researched trauma therapy. It helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they feel less intense and more in the past, often without needing to talk through every detail.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS sees the mind as made up of "parts," like the inner critic, the worrier, or the part that shuts down. Rather than fighting them, we get curious, understand what they're protecting, and help them heal. I weave IFS into EMDR so protective parts feel respected, and processing can happen at a pace your system trusts.

Trauma-Informed Care

You set the pace. We build stability and coping skills first, pay attention to what your body is telling you, and move into deeper work only when you're ready.

About me

Hi, I'm Christa

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oklahoma and Texas, and I specialize in helping adults heal from trauma and the patterns it leaves behind.

I believe growth often begins when we stop fighting ourselves. That's the heart of the name Surrender to Growth: not giving up, but letting go of the struggle enough for healing to happen. In our work together, I'll offer warmth, steadiness, and honest collaboration, and I'll trust that you already have what you need to heal.

I was drawn to this profession through my own experience. Having struggled with mental health and trauma myself, I know how debilitating panic attacks, anxiety, and depression can be. I'm passionate about helping others heal and find the freedom I've found through my own healing and growth.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is EMDR, and will I have to relive my trauma?

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or alternating taps, while you briefly focus on a memory. It helps the brain reprocess the memory so it becomes less distressing. You don't have to describe every detail out loud, and we always build safety and coping skills first.

What is IFS (Internal Family Systems)?

IFS is a compassionate approach that helps you understand the different "parts" of yourself, like the part that worries, the part that criticizes, or the part that keeps you busy. Instead of trying to get rid of these parts, we learn what they need so they can relax and heal.

Does online therapy work as well as in-person therapy?

Research shows online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns, including trauma and anxiety. Many people find it easier to open up from a space where they already feel comfortable, and there's no commute.

Where do I need to be for sessions?

Because I'm licensed in Oklahoma and Texas, you need to be physically located in one of those states at the time of each session. You'll need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera.

How long will therapy take?

It's different for everyone. Some people come for a few months to work on a specific concern, while others stay longer to work through deeper or more complex experiences. We'll check in regularly about your goals and progress.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share in therapy is kept confidential, with a few legal exceptions, such as concerns about immediate safety or the abuse of a child or vulnerable adult. We'll go over this in detail at the start of therapy.
